Cost is £3.00 – remember you can watch it as many times as you wish.
No need for special equipment.  The stretch session is all in kneeling or seated.
The video is perfect for those people who are seated all today, or equally have just finished a workout.

These videos are open to past and present clients who have completed a PARQ Health Form.

September Class Timetable Released Today

I hope everyone is enjoying the summer break so far.

I’ve released the September class timetable today, if you could book your space before Friday 19th August that would be fantastic.

We will be using the soft Pilates weights in September. Please remember you can still participate in all the class without the weights, they are just an optional extra.  We will also be using the mini loop bands to work our legs even harder should you wish.

2015 Summer Timetable

Holiday season is upon us and although I won’t be running all my usual classes I will be putting on some evening classes to keep you moving over the summer.

Classes are open to all my existing clients and of course any new clients wanting to give it ago.  Although if you haven’t attended one of my classes before please contact me before you arrive as I will need you to complete a health questionnaire.

Emma is the only one of a number of professionals I have seen who really explains things thoroughly to me which allows me to fully understand how each move will help me and how my body works. October 2014 Class Timetable

Bookings now being taken for October classes.

Saturday people have until Saturday 28th September.

Monday people have until Monday 29th September.

Thursday people have until Thursday 25th September.

Friday people have until Friday 26th September.

If you are a new clients please contact me to register your interest and book on.  Some of my busier classes have a waiting list, spaces will be allocated on a first come basis.

New classes always being added so please feel free to get in touch if there is a particular time or day you are looking for.

Early Saturday morning class now starts at 8:30am so enjoy the extra 10 minutes in bed.

The popular Monday evening class is be held at Queens Croft High School from Monday 6th October at 8pm.

Class timetable September 2014

I’m pleased to release the new timetable for September 2014, including the new Monday evening class to be held at The Bowling Green Pub.

Click on link for directions to The Bowling Green Pub, please note if you use the Pub car park there is a charge. The new class will be held at 8pm on Monday evenings, spaces are limited so book your space early to avoid disappointment.

Summer Timetable 2014

Feedback from clients is that you want classes to continue over the summer/school holidays.  So I have decided to run a selected number of classes over July and August, timetables attached.  Over the Summer I will be running one class on a Saturday morning at 8:20am, one Monday morning class at 10:00am, two Thursday evening classes at 7:05pm and 8:10pm and no Friday morning class.  I plan to re start all the classes again September along with a new Monday evening class.  The new Monday evening class will be held at The Bowling Green Pub in Lichfield City Centre and run from 8:00pm to 9:00pm.  Spaces will be limited so please let me know if you want me to allocate you a place.

Original Principles of Pilates

As a Pilates Instructor I want to introduce people to the original principles of Pilates (breathing, centring, concentration, control, precision and flow) and also the widely excepted fundamentals (alignment, stabilisation, mobilisation and flexibility/stretching).  Here is a quick look at each of them.

Joseph Pilates original principles

Breathing

Breathing enhances natural movement and aids relaxation.  In Pilates its important to breath in wide and full allows the ribs to open, correct breathing patterns can enhance the connection between the deep abdominal muscles, pelvis floor and diaphragm.

Centring

The centre is also referred to as the core, the muscles that provide stability allowing the body to function efficiently.

Concentration

Concentration allows the mind body connection of the technique.  Concentrating on each movement and the correct use of the muscles will give balance to the body.  Concentrating on breath encourages focus and a flowing rhythm.

Control

Control is improved with practise and it is the ability to perform each movement without excessive muscle tension – each move should eventually look almost effortless.

Precision

Precision is the key element which distinguishes Pilates from other forms of exercise.  The movements are felt much more profoundly through small corrections to alignment and execution.

Flow

The body should fluidly move through the exercises without fast and slow sections to the move but a constant flowing speed. 

 

As the Pilates method has evolved and research has been published new fundamentals have become integral to the Pilates technique.

Alignment

Good alignment/posture is when you are placing the least strain on your body; placing minimal wear and tear on joints and correct muscle length is maintained. 

Pilates works the body in neutral pelvis, therefore allowing neutral spine.  Learning to find and maintain neutral in and outside of the Pilates session is extremely beneficial for good posture and back health.

Stabilisation

The core can be defined as a group of deep muscles creating a cylindrical effect around the spine providing stability and support.

Mobilisation

Mobilisation can be defined as the movement of joints and soft tissue through full range of motion.  Pilates sessions aim to move the spine through all planes, flexion, extension, lateral flexion, rotation and neutral.

Flexibility and stretching

Flexibility is the ability of the muscle and the joint to move through a full range of motion.
